Taka, Does your work network provide DHCP services? If not, you will never get an address. I have a static address at my work. Additionally, some wireless networks, for security reasons, do not allow ad-hoc clients. This means that the IT folks will need add your card's MAC Address (or Ethernet Address for en1 in Network Preferences, it will look something like this - 00:3d:65:b5:15:4e) to the wireless router so you can be recognized and given an IP address.
