Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Hi Mark, you'll probably get more sophisticated answers to your questions than mine, but I hope the following will also be helpful. Remember that you indeed were required to supply your 'root' password to install the driver. One reason for this is that for it to run at the system level, the driver needs those privileges. So even though the 'uninstaller' has apparently failed in its job (no change after logout/login?), you can still remove the driver, you just may need to do it from the command line using 'sudo' to authenticate your status as administrator of your computer. Anything free comes with no guarantee, and the traffic on this list proves that the details of using this driver are not flawless and lots of users have troubles getting everything to show up at first. I agree with all you have said, and unfortunately this is one of the inconveniences to be endured for the potential benefit from open source software. Having said that, if you are in need of more precise instructions for getting these things removed, it would be my pleasure to work with you further by email. I have gotten such excellent support from the various email forums for the open source projects that I use, that I'm just itching to provide some real help to another user when possible.
