I've found I can get a good signal with the Lombard/Orinoco anywhere in my (small) house - which means 40' or so from the base station. However, the signal strength fluctuates a lot when I'm farther away and seems to be sensitive to the orientation of the Powerbook. I've found that where I'm sitting now, about 40' away, I can keep a strong, fairly stable signal if I prop up the back of the machine so that the Orinoco card isn't completely horizontal. It still drops out every now and then, but it's good enough to keep an internet radio connection going in iTunes. Is there any way to rig up an antenna on the Orinoco silver card? Tom |
