[Wirelessdriver-support] Best bang for the buck WAP?

I've have an 800 DVI Tibook and I'm in my friends apartment where he 
uses a graphite airport basestation. Anyway, I find the reception more 
reliable with my Orinoco Silver card and the wireless driver. I'm soon 
to move into the same building and sign up for cable and I'm in the 
market for a WAP. I'm not sure Apple airport
is the best bang for the buck with many people favoring the cheaper 
Linksys WAPs which seem to offer better range.

Anyway, how do you configure these non apple WAPs from a Powerbook?
