I am very glad to have found the wireless driver open source software you are administering and I hope it will work for me. My objective is to use a WavLAN Silver PCMCIA card on my Powerbook G3 with hotspots in the area (I d= o not have a wireless router set-up yet) I run OS X 10.2.3 on a Powerbook G3 Pismo When I tried to invoke the terminal commands suggested in the FAQ, this is the response I got: [Henry-Clines-Computer:~] henrycline% sudo kmodstat -n com.apple.iokit.IOPCCardFamily sudo: kmodstat: command not found [Henry-Clines-Computer:~] henrycline% sudo kmodstat -n org.noncontiguous.WirelessDriver sudo: kmodstat: command not found I have installed the wireless driver from the most recent download: You are requesting file: /wirelessdriver/WirelessDriverBeta5_1.dmg.sit When I insert the PCMCIA card it comes up on my menu bar with three lines: Lucent Tech (grayed) WavLAN IEEE (grayed) Power Off card (not grayed) When I open my Network set-up, there are no alternative Ethernet adapter options such as (en1 or en2) in the drop down menu. The WirelessDriver Config appears in my system preferences /other, but when I select it there are no available options ot input (they are all grayed) I assume this is because Ihave yet to be able to detect my PCMCIA card. I think that is all the info I have available. If you have suggestions on where to start troubleshooting, I would greatly appreciate the help. (The obvious question I must ask, is must there be an existing wireless signal available to even start setting the card and the driver?) Henry www.interactivehank.com is now open for business. It ain=B9t all there yet, but then again it may never be. |
