I have has success using a Sohoware NetBlaster II Wireless PC Card unencrypted on OSX 10.2.3 on a Lombard G3 333. After installing the 5.1 beta package, I used the modifications to /System/Library/Extensions/WirelessDriver.kext/Contents/Info.plist previously posted to the list. I needed to delete /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext to get it to work. Since I did not choose to install OS9, I deleted these files in single user mode, and it seemed to do the job. I am using the Sohoware 802.11b basestation, and have no trouble web browsing with Chimera or using the mail client native to Jaguar. Before I did the modofications to the default installation, en1 would not appear in the Network preferences pane, and running WirelessConfig from the command line produced and error message complaining that it couldn't find a wireless driver service in the registry. Thanks again to the developers, and to those who posted the fixes mentioned above. I am elated to be able to run 802.11b on my powerbook now! -Kurt J. |
