I take that back, others have reported success with the card. I am new to this whole thing, and just got my 2511CD PLUS card yesterday. I had installed the driver on Friday before I got the card. I was in exactly the same boat as you with the same machine. I dumped those pref files and rebooted, to no avail (nor did I expect anything since I DID have panes, but no new network port) ... So, I reinstalled the drivers WITH THE CARD PLUGGED IN ... I was delighted to see the green triangle blinking when the machine came back up, and it is now working. Us dummys just have to go for the empirical, trial and error approach for lack of a better idea ... but if you haven't done it already ... it worked for me.
