I have installed the software in a similar setup (be it a gold card rather than a silver). I noticed the icon in the menu bar prior to installing the software. Possibly, it is Jaguar that shows the icon by itself, not the driver doing it. Strangely enough, I have had to check the 'driver' line in the installer program (choose the special installing button when running the installer). It appeared that only the two lower lines of the three installable items were checked. Make sure that this is not the case with you, and that upon installing, you install all three items. Since I discovered this, the orinoco works like a charm, putting spells on my Airport Base station from a range that I could not have hoped to dream of when using the built-in airport card. The only 'drawback' is that Appletalk is only active on one of the cards. TCP/IP runs happily on both cards simultaneously, with each card having its own IP address from the DHCP server in the Airport base station. Very funny. Cheers, Ard (from the couch in the living ;-) |
