Hi there, I have a D-Link/NetEasy DRC650 WirelessLAN and a Belkin F5D6020g WLAN card. The first should be the same as the DWL 650, the latter I don't know. The D-Link card showed up on the desktop of a friend's G3 PowerBook immediately after insertion. So did the Belkin card. Couldn't test the cards as there was no access point available, though. I have also tried to run them in a desktop PC running Windows ME. The PC recognizes the PCI-adapter card with the TI1410 chip, but not the wireless cards. Same thing happened with a PCI adapter card with a Ricoh controller. I then connected a Belkin WLAN USB Adapter to the PC's USB port and this works just fine, except for encryption. Both the Belkin and the D-Link card are WEP128 compliant. Could they be used to replace the internal Lucent Orinoco Silver card (WEP64) of the original AirPortBaseStation? There was a how-to in c't 24/2001 computer magazine, replacing the silver card with a gold one. Regards Wolfgang |
