Sigmeter should add a menubar item to monitor the strength of your wireless connection in the menubar when launched with a card is inserted. WirelessConfig is indeed a stripped down version of the prefpane. Development was stopped on this app when we switched to the prepane, I'm not sure why rob included it in the last release but the source is still available in cvs in case Dave ever needs to move the prepane back to an application.
