I have >to switch from a wired network (work) to a wireless (home) everyday. ... If you're ADDING the Orinoco card during sleep, then you will get a kernel panic. You could keep the Orinoco card in the cardbus slot when starting up at work, even though you're not using it. Here is what I do, and it works reliably. At the old location: Switch to a network location that is PPP (dial up) only, using the built-in modem (thus, the machine never sees the removal of an interface device) Sleep the PowerBook Remove the Orinoco card After arriving at the new location: Insert the Orinoco card Wake the PowerBook Switch to the proper Network location If this new location is home/wireless, open the Wireless Prefs pane and connect to your wireless network FruitMenu enables very easy location switching in the Apple menu. $7 at <http://www.unsanity.com/goto/buy-fruitmenu/> Or, as Rob says, upgrade to 10.2 when it's available. -- Russ Cusimano |
