On a PowerBook G4 400 using a Lucent Wavelan Gold under OS 10.2.5 (also occurred under 10.2.4), if the network name selected in the wireless driver control panel does not match the name of the network available (or perhaps if there is no network available?), the driver will write an error message every half to quarter second to /var/log/system.log. This results in the machine not sleeping, increased battery usage, and filling of the system.log file with extraneous error messages. A cap on the number of error messages possible to write should be added. One or two an hour is plenty.
