No

Pressing Escape now does the same as File | Exit.

This is useful for using WinMerge as an external diff
program, with WinCVS or TortoiseCVS. ExamDiff (a
freeware diff program) does it, and it is very useful.

Not so useful... This breaks Microsoft GUI rules, and you
can do the same thing with Alt+F4...

Yes, it breaks formal GUI guidelines.

However, the use of a Diff program as an external app
for a source control system is different. The diff
program is really acting as a dialog for the source
    control application.

The fact that is an external app is transparent to the
user. So to the user it is the most natural thing in
the world to try and press escape to close this dialog.

    Hope that makes more sense,

    Francis

Yes, it breaks formal gui guidelines, but since we are not
using the escape key for anything else in WinMerge, then it
    seems like a good idea.

I have committed this patch to CVS, it will be available in the
    next build.
