I would find it useful if the diff was able to use other symbols e.g. brackets, parentheses, colons, etc as word boundaries.
we have it in 2.13.x since month!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the (anyhow useful) option "Break at whitespace or punctuation " in editor prefs won't fit completely to that issue.
I often have to compare csv-like (!) files that use a pipe character "|" as field boundary. Currently I'm unable to use those as punctuation.
My suggestion: Extend the drop box with an option "Custom" and a bunch of check boxes (for common boundaries) plus an input field for unusual ones - like Excel does in the .txt file import wizard - only active with that option. That would give maximum control over diff display boundary behaviour.
