I just bought a small cheap "audio zapper" from "One for All".
i can use it with a Tuner, CD-Player, Tape-Deck and a Minidisk-Player. I
want to control my PC with this remote.
What brand (e.g. Sony/Aiwa/Panasonic....) should I use with this universal
remote control to run it with WinLIRC??
I tried Sony models for all the four different settings (Sony Tuner/ Sony
CD/Sony Tape/Sony MD).
But there is some "overlap"... I configured WinLIRC via the "learn"
function, learned all the buttons in all modes of the remote at once. But if
I press eg. the "Play" button in Tape-Mode, it is recognized as "Play" in
Can I use different brands, make four different config files and write them
all together in a new one??

Whatever works. I never had much luck with multifunction (all-in-one)
remotes and the "learn" feature, although I admittedly haven't played
with them much.

Yep. WinLIRC can handle any number of remotes at once; just treat it
as four remotes, learn them separately, and then tack all four config
files together into one, end to end.
