I just made a IR receiver for my PC but I am running into a couple of problems.
Some how I have got some trouble using the "Learn" mode, since when I try
to tech A button I always get a inconsistend data message.
When I use a standard RC5.rc file the receiver seems to recognise my remote ok.
Since this standard file seems to be missing some newer buttons, I have on
my remote, I wondered if it was possible to add the aditional buttons by hand.
P.S. Is there any way to log exactly which code has been receives by the
remote, e.g. "vcr1-volume+"
Well quitting all possible programs before running the learn function
is a good idea. you can use the task manager to kill processes which don't have a window. once its learned usually it works well with other programs running.

Yes, if you know the code for the button you can just add a button name
and add the code after it following the format of the other codes.
the code numbers are in hex with zero and one defined by the appropriate lines above.
If you want to see the codes that your remote is sending use the "raw codes" button. you can then compare the codes from the new buttons to those of the old buttons. Then you can translate these raw codes into the hex codes.
but it's much easier if you can get the learn function to work properly.
