I'd really love to be able to use winexe to push a file to a Windows machine.
I'm pretty sure winexe already does this to set up the Windows service winexe uses.
My use case is as follows.
On my Linux server I have a Windows installer file named "Salt-Minion-0.16.3-AMD64-Setup.exe"
I'd like to use winexe to push this installer file to my Windows machine.
Then I'd like to use current winexe functionality to kick off that installer using silent flags. (I don't think the flags are germane to this issue, but I can add them if requested.) This would allow me to use winexe to install software remotely without having first to copy the file to the Windows machine with smbclient.
I'm more than willing to help test this, if needed.
Thank you!
Because winexe already sends the winexesvc executable it might be possible to leverage some code in implementing this feature.
I guess that the main advantage of winexe with this feature over the combination smbclient + winexe is that winexe with this feature takes care of calculating a temporary-file name, writing the file beforehand and erasing it afterwards. Is that right?
