Well, version 2.4.2 of WindowsBuildAudit has been released. This is a minor release which changes the target CLR to .NET 3.5. This means that Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 after being freshly installed with no windows updates. We would like to drop the required .NET version down to 3.0 which would give us out-the-box support for Vista and Server 2008, but unfortunately the code uses some features only in 3.5 (namely; LINQ). WindowsBuildAudit works on all versions of Windows since XP as long as you have at least .NET 3.5 installed, available from windows update or the Microsoft web site.
This release also introduces a new distributation; "static binaries". These are editions of the applications that include all the .dll's into a single executable. Currently "WbaStandalone" and "WbaConfigurator" are statically compiled, making it even easier to use from a network share or similar.
Secondly, a tutorial that covers the download and simple usage of WindowsBuildAudit has been produced. The videos will be posted on the homepage of the wiki until further notice; https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/winbuildaudit/index.php?title=Windows_Build_Audit
We are pleased to announce a possible tester who would like to contribute to the project, more on that soon. The project desperately could do with lots of testers. It would require about 2 hours a week, contact me (http://xconspirisist.co.uk) if you are interested.
Finally, the project is being moved from "Alpha" to "Stable". There have been a few releases since the initial upload to SourceForge and no project is bug free, but it should be stable enough for most people now.
