While waiting for this to be fixed, the fc command (without the -l argument) can be used to edit the recent history -- with the purpose of re-executing it. The lines of interest can be saved to another file rather than being re-executed. Of course you have to delete them out of the edit session to prevent re-execution.

fc -l >log produces an error about invalid parameters. It should really just write the lines of text to the file.
