#30 win32for 6.12.00 & 6.14.00 not functioning

On windows XP after functioning for months, win32for stopped working with the FP errors typical when an AV modifies it.
Reinstalling 6.12.00 gets it working - one time - then it fails in same way. Installing 6.14.00 also works once, then stops.
All anti-virus software (MSE) was disabled for the last of these tests. Suspect recent windows update, e.g. Malicious Software Removal is at fault. In short, neither the old stable 6.12.00 nor the developer build 6.14.00 can be used.
