In the long term, Diderot should support simultaneous
editing of a wiki page by several users, like SubEthaEdit:

Multiple users can edit the same page at the same time,
and the editor shows all editing users the changes as
they happen in real-time, using color coding to
distinguish different users.

In order to facilitate this, we could run a special
server process on the Wikimedia servers. This would
handle both editing and chat.

    I think this would be a *great* feature. I wonder whether
    there are already some protocol standards for collaborative
    editing. I plan to include a irc client to follow rc streams -
    maybe this would be a straightforward approach - to
    exchange collaborative editing actions over an irc network.
