#53 admin login fails on configuration

No matter what I use for user name and password, I get this error and can't set up wikiwig:
Access denied for user 'cayennep'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Docs point to many different places to change this, but none are correct or clear. I have only the file wk_config.php.template, and admin password is blank in there.

I have copied the whole wikiwig folder to my site as instructed, the admin page opens but I can't save it. Above points to localhost, but should use the web server.
