It would be nice if I could type [[article]s] or
[un[intelligent]ly] and have Wikipedia interpret it as
articles and unintelligently. This
would solve the complaints of people who find articles
ugly in the final output and articles ugly and
too long in the source.
It would also be nice if link (disambig) wasn't
changed in the source to link. This
ruins any opportunity for new Wikipedians to learn about
that link trick, and it clutters up the article source.

from abc to [[ab]c]? That seems a trifle... odd.
Being able to to abc might be useful, yes, but I think
it might break lots of things to introduce it this late,
unless there's a program run off-line on the DB to make sure
there's whitespace or an otherise breaking character before
every [[...
As to auto-conversion of the pipe-trick, well, maybe, but
the whole point is to reduce the size of the page, both to

Dont you find [[article]s] uglier than articles ?
The mediawiki software can be set to have text before [[
prepended to the text link:
unintelligently will then become <a
href="./intelligent">unintelligently</a>
Change function linkPrefixExtension() in langage.php so it
return true instead of default false. Also the [a[b]c] will
certainly link B as an external url...
I do agree that link (disamb) should stay as it and not be
expanded.
