on japanese wikipedia, several users reported that TOC
is only partly displayed.

I tried to reproduce it on WinXP - IE6.0 and -FireFox0.8,
using both standard and monobook skins, without any
success. (well, which is sort of good.)

I have not seen it on meta's
http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.3_comments_
and_bug_reports

I (or others) will supply details later.

    A follow-up:

    1. Screenshot by a ja. wikipedian (Nidarin) is here:
    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%94%BB%E5%83%
    8F:Menubug-Nidarin200406120.jpg

    2. It happens with WinXP(SP1) with IE6.0 or Mozilla1.6.
logged-on or not does not seem to affect the error.

    3. It may not be a browser problem. Nidarin reported that
the html source contains some error, and it seems that when
Norton's security feature (possibly its anti-pop-up feature,
but not clear at this point) is turned off, the error does not
    happen.

    Brion-

Yes, there is that problem of having TeX in heading breaks
TOC. But this bug is reported even with pages whch contain
    no TeX element in headings.

So it could well be that they are two different issues. No?

On the machine I am currently using, the TeX problem exists.
But no heading is missing. In the screenshot, I see several
items (3.1, 4.1, 4.5-4.7, etc.) are simply missing from TOC in
addition to the TeX corrupting TOC.

Other pages reported to have problems include:

    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%A6%E3%83%AB%E3%
    83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%83%9E%E3%83%B3%E4%B8%80%
    E8%A6%A7

    (1, 5, 8, 9 are reportedly missing from TOC)

    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%
    82%BF%E3%83%B3%E6%98%9F%E4%BA%BA

and many other articles that do not include TeX in headings.

I don't see anything wrong with either of those two pages. All the
    headers appear in the TOC.

I don't have any missing headers on the bug report page either. (Link for
    reference: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/
    Wikipedia:%E3%83%90%E3%82%B0%E3%81%AE%E5%A0%B1%E5%91
    %8A )

Tested: Safari 1.2.2, Mozilla 1.7 on Mac OS X
    Firefox 0.8 on Linux
IE 6.0, Mozilla 1.6 on Windows XP

I'll move the TeX bug (which is a real bug in the wiki) to a separate
report. This missing headers might be specific to unrelated software?

I do not see the problems, either on those pages.

Given that a few people reported the same thing (missing
lines in the TOC), I expect that it is not very rare.

But ja:User:Nidarin's report suggests that it may have to do
with virus protection software removing some of the texts
    from html file.

The links whose href attribute has ".AD." is regarded as an
    advertisement
and removed by Norton, I suppose.
    I think this isn't MediaWiki's bug,
but it is bad definition of advertisement in Norton.

Closing as this is a bug in the Norton proxy.
