Hi,

Using <nowiki>...</nowiki> tags to protect text from
being interpreted as Wiki markup does not work anymore
in 1.3. For example, see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Schneelocke/Tmp/Nowiki_breakage

In addition, if nowiki tags are used in signatures, any # or :
signs at the beginning of the post are not parsed. See
    [[WP:RFA]]. Also, see
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day_archive
#Smart_sigs for some strange parsing of the tags.

Should be fixed now, please test and report further problems.

Perhaps the test page Schneelock made works now, but the
two issues I brought up are still unresolved.

For example, following wikitext does'nt work for me:

    :There is not nowiki.
    :There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.

    #There is not nowiki.
    #There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.

    *There is not nowiki.
    *There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.

Not to be rude, but I'd up the priority on this just a bit. I've
been seeing this bug all over the place (user pages, talk
    pages, Wikipedia: pages, etc.).

Good fix, but HTML tags in nowiki, <nowiki>like
<center>this</center></nowiki>, seem to work. Is it OK? Or
    cannot I write them?

mulukhiyya's sample text currently produces this output:

    <dl><dd>There is not nowiki.
    </dd><dd>There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.
    </dd></dl>
    <ol><li>There is not nowiki.
    </li><li>There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.
    </li></ol>
    <ul><li>There is not nowiki.
    </li><li>There is <nowiki>nowiki</nowiki>.
    </li></ul>

The literal "<nowiki>" tags in the output are incorrect and can cause
validation errors, but the list is generated correctly and if I put wiki
markup inside them (like ''' for bold) the behavior is as expected (kept as
literal ''' rather than turned to <strong>).

The page mentioned in the last comment also looks correct.

jrdioko's sample link also looks fine.

Are there any remaining open issues other than the literal <nowiki>
    tags?

i've re-done the nowiki handling- it should behave just the
same as in 1.2 now (unstripped last).

The problem involved in this bug seems to have been fixed.
However, the problem I mentioned in a separate report still
exists (If nowiki tags are used with tilde signatures in a
template and the subst: method is used to copy that
template to a page, the signature is expanded before the
nowiki tags go into effect, not before preventing the
    signature from being expanded).
