Hello @All, Hi Simon, i have on more Question belonging to IE and the Style. Normally we have tu use IE in our environment, but i'am using Firefox mostly. Sometimes i have to use the IE. I'am not happy about this, but some other users working with the IE too. Now, my problem is, that the menu-bar is not visible in IE 6.0.xx. In the moment i'm using the stylesheet from version 3.2.1 (21.Aug. 2008) Maybe you have some minutes time, and could give me a hint, why IE don't displaying the menu. Maybe there is an easy special switch which i could deactivate and whithout this the IE is displaying the menu. On my own homepage i'm using no special things in CSS-Programming and there the menu's where displayed without any problems. If you mean it's could be helpful, i will send you the actual style.css. Maybe it's a good idea to write a complete new stylesheet, but i have no enough time for this, and so i'm looking for an easy, and maybe little dirty solution to display the menu in the IE browser. If you doesn't have some time for this or no idea, of course i could write my question to a css-programming forum. -- mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind Regards Axel Birndt |

Hi Axel, I assume you should have the solution as soon as possible … means it will be best if you ask in #css at irc.freenode.net, or in a CSS forum. I currently don't have much spare time, sorry :( If it is not so important: I'll have to look at the problem some time anyway (thanks for pointing it out btw). But that can take some weeks. Hi Simon, i would like to ask you, for a little bit of your time belonging the described IE-Issue. It is still unclear for me, why the IE do not show the menu. Maybe you have an idea what's wrong? In the moment i have not so much time to solve the issue, because i have had a lot to do in my work time. Maybe you could cut a little bit time for this? The problem is, that a lot of my colleagues are using the IE, and my css-knowledge is not so good to resolve the issue. Hi Axel, Easiest thing would perhaps be to use a different menu. Right now I don't have time (exams), and I want to finish/tweak some tools in kdenlive (.org). And it is also a little difficult to test for me because I don't have an old IE here. Which version, btw? I might take a look at it after the exams. Two things: * CSS comments are always between /* these characters */ -- see http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/syndata.html#comments * I think you're already doing it, but please make sure you are including the IE6 stylesheet within this tags: <!--[if IE 6]> <![endif]--> Is it now working when not using negative values, or are there still bugs? I'am imported the ie-fixes.css in the header section: currently it looks like this example: from reck.html: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />[meta] <title>[title]</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen, projection,tv" href="style/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print, tty" href="style/style_print.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print, tty" href="style/ie-fixes.css" /> [head] </head> <body> .... >menu> <div id="menu"> [menu] </div><!-- end menu --> <menu< <!--/htdig_noindex--> <div id="content"> <!--[if IE 6]> <p style="background-color: #ffb657; font-size: .9em; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;">Achtung im IE nur eingeschränkte Funktionalität. Leider wird momentan das Menü nicht angezeigt. Daran wird aber gearbeitet.<br /> Bitte am besten den den Firefox benutzen. Danke.</p> <![endif]--> [content] </div><!-- end content --> >footer> <div id="footer"> [footer] </div><!-- end footer --> <footer< </div><!-- end wrap --> </body> </html> |

There is the issue with the menu, which isn't displayed. We use currently the following stylesheets (from your hd-style) <title> Apache_SSL_Konfiguration</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen,projection,tv" href="style/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print,tty" href="style/style_print.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print,tty" href="style/ie-fixes.css" /> The negative margin definition could be the reason. If i change this the IE is able to show the menu. Please see the attached picture. #menu { float: left; width: 152px; height: 100%; padding: 12px 0 16px 0; # margin: 0 5px 5px -155px; margin: 0 5px 5px 5px; border-top: 10px solid #616e9a; border-bottom: 18px solid #616e9a; background-color: #fff; font-size: .9em; clear:both; } Within the webdeveloper toolbar i see the location from the elements of this site (please refer to pic2) I hope its possible to send the attachment within this mailinglist. Otherwise you could see it here: http://www.blaufotograph.de/bildertmp kind regards Axel |
