I'm using the latest build, I always get disconnected
very often. usually when downloading files.
To check if it is a bad modem, I tried to connect the
modem directly to a PC and the disconnection seemed
to have stoped.
Is this a problem with the PPPoE client or the WRT54G it
self?

using latest build of wifibox firmware

seems to be ok now.
I have upgraded to Linksys firmware version 2.02.7
