I'm using widestudio on an embedded device running "familiar" linux on a
strong arm cpu. The display (320x240) is controlled via the framebuffer
I 'm using widestudio now for a while, but I'm still struggling to use
different fonts. It works already with the two fonts delivered with widestudio
(8x16.pcf and 7x14.pcf) and some fonts that comes with X11, but the most pcf
fonts that comes with X11 are not working or lead into strange
behavior. For example I tried helvR24.pcf and courB24.pcf with no
success. The grafic system seems to hang during the initializiation
phase. The font helvR24.pcf leads into something like a dump called
"corrupted double-linked list" folowed by a a long memory dump.
On the other hand the 4x6, 10x20.pcf and others taken from the
x11-misc directory are running well, arabic24.pcf doesn't work.
Is there anybody having ideas what difference in the font files is the go/nogo criteriar?
I am looking for a very large font, compared to the standard 8x16
bigger by 2..3 times to display values that can still be read over a
longer distance. Maybe something that looks like a "7-segment LCD
