Build 9 of Widelands, a Free, cross-platform strategy game has been released. The game is heavily inspired by Settlers II by BlueByte.
Widelands uses SDL as graphics and input library and is currently available for Linux/x86 and Windows and in Source Code. An experimental MacOS X port is also available.
The new release brings two completely playable scenarios and LAN-Network gaming mode. Also military assaulting was added in this release, though still some work is needed here.
Also an alpha Internet gaming mode throug GGZ (www.ggzgamingzone.org) is introduced in the linux version, but is still in testing state (only for the brave).
Still, we are very proud to say, that this version of widelands is the first really playable.
