Hi, I've an issue with wickedshell, I hope you could help me because I very like this tool. I installed with success wickedshell on Eclipse Mars 4.5 (Windows 8.1). But when I open a shell window, I ve the error: "java.lang.RuntimeException --- No ShellDescriptor found for this id <>" Then I opened Preference/Wicked Shell and I saw that there were nothing in "Default statis shell". the combo is empty. Could you explain me how I coul add cmd.exe to this combo ? Or is it missing something in me env variable ? Thank you ! -- -- PASCAL |

Hi all, I have wicked shell plugin for eclipse. I've installed git and want to work with it through wicked shell. But I get "'git' is not recognized as an internal or external command" error. In default windows shell everything works well. I think wicked shell does not see new value of path variable. How can I fix that? P.S.: restarting Eclipse and reopening wickedshell view do not help. Best regards, Artem Tykhonov |

Hi folks, I'm a bit confused on the custom shell settings screen by these three items: * Path Delimiter * Command Delimiter * Systempath Separator I get what a Path Separator (drop down for that option) is, but then what's a Path Delimiter, and how is a Path Delimiter different from a Systempath Separator, etc? Clarification would be appreciated! - Beads http://twitter.com/beadsland |

Just installed wickedshell last night on Eclipse Indigo (3.7), under Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Nice little addition; complements ShellEd plugin. Eclipse et all keep getting better & better. :-) Bash shell works for me, but doesn't allow scrolling through history with up/down arrow keys like regular bash shell does. Don't see anything obvious in preferences to set to fix this, but i'm slow at this stuff... 1. Is there a way to get this enabled? Something in the preferences I'm missing, or something needed in .bashrc? 2. Do the arrow keys recall history in Linux/Eclipse? thanks in advance. ian ____________________ Ian Scott-Fleming ian...@tt... |

Hello - I'm having trouble installing the plugin on our Linux Eclipse. I can install and run Wicked Shell fine on PC Eclipse but not Linux Eclipse. We use Linux 2.6, bash, Java JDK 1.6, Eclipse Helios. I access it using Xming (X server for PC) from my PC. Originally, we put the zip file in our system eclipse/plugins directory. I first tried to install just using the zip file but Eclipse says it can't find any categorized items so cannot proceed. So, we unzipped into the system eclipse plugins "wicked_shell" directory (which we created) and, upon install attempt, even though Eclipse let me select the wicked_shell directory, it still said it couldn't find any categorized items. I then tried installing from an eclipse/plugins directory that lives under my home directory. Same results. I am not root on our Linux system, just a regular user working with my root sys admin person and providing him with the instructions. Please can you tell me what is going wrong and how it can be remedied? Do you think this is happening because I don't have enough permissions? or perhaps because I run Eclipse through Xming? Thanks, Iceberg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Hi, Tab completion doesn't work for msys. Do I need to adjust some settings to enable it? (Neither command nor path completion is working) Thanks. Best, Kaan. |

Hi, I'm new to Wicked Shell. Thanks to Stefan, It's really a convenient tool ! Now, the cmd in wicked shell cannot display Chinese character properly. I use Windows 7 Simplified Chinese Edition, and the system's cmd works well with its default codepage of 936. I typed 'chcp 936' in wicked shell's cmd window, but it still could not work. Anyone can help? |

Hi everybody, just a quick info: Wicked Shell 2.0.5 supporting Windows 7 is out now. Additionally you may now edit existing static completions. You can get it via updatesite at http://www.wickedshell.net/updatesite or as feature download from Sourceforge.net at https://sourceforge.net/projects/wickedshell/files/wickedshell/2.0.5/net.sf.wickedshell.feature_2.0.5.zip/download. I just had a try using 3.4 and everything worked fine. Please try to remove Wicked Shell from your installed features, restart Eclipse using the -clean parameter and install it again. It should work then. Hi everybody, again it took a while but just by today, the next release of Wicked Shell is out now. It contains some enhancements concerning the multiple view handling and some bug fixes. Although it is a small release I hope it you like it. Wicked Shell 2.0.3 is available by Sourceforge download or via Update Site. As usual, any further ideas or comments are highly welcome. Thanks for your support, best regards, Stefan |

Hi, First thanx for great contribution to Eclipse. I would like to use Wicked Shell with python on windows. from wicked shell, but I can't. When I start python from shell the shell freezes and I must kill python process from task explorer. Only way to run python is to type start python, but then python starts in seperate window outside eclipse. Is there a way to run Python inside Wicked shell ? Thanx |

Hi Grzegorz, I think I know the problem here :) The default bash descriptor of Wicked Sh= ell defines '> ' to be the so called path delimiter (last characters of the= prompt). The problem is, that for a normal user, this must be "$ ". I encl= ose a screenshot with a custom shell descriptor which should work. After yo= u entered the descriptor you can choose it from the 'Active Shell' submenu = of an open shell view. This should work (at least I hope so). Hi, Stefan, I have this behaviour with default bash prompt. After this e-mail, I tried to set the prompt to something different based on your documentation, but the result is the same. My default bash prompt in gnome-terminal looks like this: 'astral@astral-laptop:~$ ' (with space, without the apostrophes), So the '>' character is not a part of default prompt. Of course, as I said, it's not about some character missing:), but that I can't use completions, history etc. until I press some button that produces printable character (then both '>' and that character are displayed). Hi Grzegorz, the prompt is usually provided by the underlaying shell. If a command is ex= ecuted, Wicked Shell 'only' transfers the text output from the underlaying = shell to the Widget. Hello, I'd like to report a bug (or not? Anyway, it isn't the way I would Wicked Shell to act). I didn't check it on Windows, but it occurs on my Linux system running eclipse 3.3. When I'm in the shell and execute a command like 'ls' (or even pressing Enter button with bare prompt), after the execution the prompt appears again, but it's not complete. For example: ---------------------- astral@astral-laptop:~/Desktop$ > ls GrzegorzGalezowski - 2007 Internship Ending presentation.ppt Img0009.jpg invite.ics notes.txt~ report-thunderbird~ rest.pdf astral@astral-laptop:~/Desktop$ ------------------- As you can see, next time there's no '>' character in the prompt. It appears after I press some printable character. It's a bit frustrating, because I can't then use my history ('up' key) to execute previous command straight away. I have to press something printable (like spacebar for example) and then keys like tab, up etc. begin to work. Best Regards, and keep up the good work, Grzegorz Galezowski |

Hi, guys The spare time has been quite a bit less copious than first thought. I got as far as you did: the shell works great on win32 platforms, virtual or otherwise, but hangs on mac os x. I don't have visiblity into the Mac JVM. I googled a bit and came across this thread at comp.lang.programmer.java: Redirect stdin using "<" in process started w/ Runtime.exec()? see http://coding.derkeiler.com/Archive/Java/comp.lang.java.programmer/2004-11/0561.html Someone at the O'Reilly portal http://community.java.net/mac/ may have some insights. Stefan, you might want to talk to people at http://www.aptana.com. Aptana is a "growing" a great IDE on top of Eclipse. When Dennis first told me about your shell, I tried it in my Mac Aptana installation and the same issues occurred. Those guys are in the java trenches and may be helpful. Hey folks, did anyone of you experience problems with Wicked Shell on a Mac? Apparentl= y it causes Eclipse to crash on Mac by halting it when the plugin is starte= d. The problem is, I don=92t have a Mac, so any hint is appreciated J I heard of this problem twice now. Is there something odd about starting a = process with Runtime.execute() on a Mac JVM? =20 Thanks for your support, Stefan PS: find an eclipse log from a *suffering* computer attached J |

Hello, I'm using Wicked Shell as an detached view on a second monitor. I have the console and sometimes other views in the same detached window. When I press ESC in the wicked shell the whole detached window gets closed. With all other views inside. That should't be the case. When I press ESC in a XP COM Shell the input line gets cleared. I would expect something similar in the wicked shell - or at least a 'bing' telling me I can't do that here. But closing the detached view is a bad thing. Ciao! Kai |

Hi Christian, sorry fort the late response. There seems to be a problem starting the doma= in plugin which is responsible for persisting some data like command histor= y, custom commands, etc. Usually this happens due to invalid XML (The data = is stored using XMLBeans). Try to start your eclipse with the -clean comman= d line argument, this will reset the XML files. If that doesn't help, pleas= e send me the .log file of the .metadata folder located in your workspace f= older. There should be a detailed stacktrace describing what's going wrong. Thanks a lot for your post. Best Regards, Stefan ----- original Nachricht -------- Betreff: [Wickedshell-user] Bug?! Gesendet: Mo, 25. Hallo, fascinating Plugin, thank you! Unfortunately, after closing and reopening Eclipse (and, before, changing the font), I keep on getting the message - Unable to create view: net/sf/wickedshell/domain/DomainPlugin - inside the shell area.. The preferences tell me - The currently displayed page contains invalid values. - I'm using Eclipse 3.2.2, and I've installed WickedShell via the update site. Do you have an idea? Thanks & cheers, Christian |
