Microsoft's Visual Studio (Visual C++) should be supported since the vast majority of PC programmers use it.
There's a note that VC++ 6.0 wasn't compliant enough for Whisper to compile. We should try VC++ 7.0 (included with Visual Studio .NET) to see if it works.
