I'm suddenly seeing a lot of "=20" stuff in my
whatsnewfm mails. I suspect this has to do with the fm
newsletter now coming through as quoted-printable.
I'm using version 0.6.2-1 (debian package)

Over here, all Freshmeat Newsletters come with
I got one report about a similar behaviour last year, but we
were not able to track down the source of the "=20"s. We
suspected the mailer ("masqmail" was used as a sendmail
Although we did not figure out the problem, there is a
workaround: Declaring the whatsnewfm mails to be Quoted
Printable helped. To do this, add these lines to the
print MAIL_HOT "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\n";
(to subroutine open_hot_mail($) after the line 'X-Loop:' line)
print MAIL_NEW "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\n";
(to subroutine open_new_mail($) after the line 'X-Loop:' line)
Please tell me if this fixes the problem.

I did something like that, except more generic so it could
be included in the main line code.
Attached is a patch that copies the mime-version,
content-type, and content-transfer-encoding headers from the
original mail into the output mail(s). Those were the three
headers I needed to copy in order to get pine to render the
path to copy headers from source mail
Thanks, I've included your patch to CVS. I'm going to test
it for some days and then make a release.
Is <email@example.com> OK or do you want another
email address to be listed in the THANKS section?
Patch is included in v0.6.4 which has been released.
