Happy - and peaceful - 2002 to everybody in this list! Fabio, I've downloaded again the file WH2FO_0_2_0.zip from Sourceforge. So Far, so good. I've got the following tree now: - directory "bins" - directory "classes" - directory "docs" - directory "src" - file "Licence.txt" - file "makejavadoc.bat" - file "setpath.bat" - file "wh2fo.bat" - file "wh2fo.sh" - file "wh2foMSV.bat" I can't find any file "install.htm". Where is it? Matthias Dott. Matthias Fischer abc.Mediaservice GmbH Nebelhornstraße 8 86807 Buchloe Tel. Hi Matthias, I have created a new install.html file to add to the distribution file. Please have a look (it's a modified version of the how-to page) and feel free to make any modification/suggestions and so on ... Hi Matthias, I have modified the download web page (see the attachment); please let me know if you think is now sufficiently clear and feel free to make any comment/modification that you think useful. Hi Matthias, I think that your comments about the download and the startup are correct. Unfortunately is the lack of time that bring me to the developer side instead of the user one ... so it worth to have a different point of view. I will modify the web site and add some documentation on the distribution file. There are other points ? Do you think you can help (using your experience) with this ? Thanks, Fabio > -----Original Message----- > From: Matthias Fischer [mailto:m.f...@ab...] > Sent: 18 December 2001 16:07 > To: Liste, WH2FO Developers > Subject: [Wh2fo-devel] WH2FO Startup > > > Erm, I've downloaded WH2FO from the internet. Erm, I've downloaded WH2FO from the internet. Let me try to simulate a user's approach to the downloaded material: 1. The user gets batch files (*.bat), which initialize s.th. Not necessarily he/she understands what the batch routines do. He/she might fear that they change some important settings of his/her machine. 2. The user gets a file "license.txt". He/she will understand it. 3. The user looks for a documentation for startup. He/she won't find anything alike. 4. The user looks for a self-explaining file, such as "setup.exe" or "install.exe". He/she won't find any. 5. The user reflects, whether he/she will have enough benefit to make it worthwhile to look for a support address and to go on with the setup. He/she will act according to his/her decision. Matthias |

Erm, I'm trying to download WH2FO from the internet. Let me try to simulate a user's approach to the options/information offered on the project site: 1. The user wants to know, whether the application runs on his/her operating system. He/she doesn't know, that Java applications run on all of the most common platforms. 2. The user reflects, whether he/she will have enough benefit to make it worthwhile to look for a support address and to go on with the download. He/she will act according to his/her decision. Hello developers, before I start sending e-mails to this list, let me introduce myself briefly. 1st of all, and most important to you: I am not a java programmer, nor any other thoroughbred kind of programmer. I do the mentoring of a group of programmers who develop cross-media workflows for technical documentation (industries) and printshops (editorial documents). In addition, I work as a consultant to spot customers' workflow potentials, and to advise them how to develop their potential. Currently my family and I live - and work - South-West of Munich. With a soft breeze from the South, i.e. warm air pouring from Italy over the Alps into Germany, I can see the snowy mountains rather close. This happens rather often. - For many years, I used to enjoy the opposite scenario: I lived on the South side of the Alps, and with cold, dry air from Germany pouring into Italy I could see the mountains quite close. This, too, used to happen rather often. I am of German nationality, but, half of my life living in Italy, I speak both languages equally well. My main task in this group, as I understand it, is to "test" wh2fo from a user's point of view. Best regards, Matthias Dott. If you mean macros or scripts the answer is no. If you insert some data from other applications and you present them = using Word you will get them inside the HTML and so WH2FO will be able to = support it. I never tried to put code inside the document, so I really don't = know if this code is saved inside the HTML file (probably inside some comment = ...) or is simply discarded. Can you generate an example so I can better understand ? Thanks, Fabio. >=20 > Matthias >=20 >=20 |

Hi guys, it seems to me that Christmas Holydays are already here :-)) I hope that you will enjoy it and so have a very nice Christmas and a fantastic new year beginning. From the development point of you :-)) I will (if I have enough spare time) try to better comment the code to help to understand some of the messy code that I have written. I really haven't got time to revise it and made it a little bit more presentable ... but some of the inesplicable sequences of IF THEN ELSE IF and so on ... are necessary because the html generated by Word is far from a linear representation and also there is some *magical* operators inside Word that randomly generate different versions. We have a new member in our team, Matthias he will provide some tests, I will ask him if he can go through these examples and highlight the bugs or missing features inside WH2FO. If you have any questions about the devel (or devil) side of WH2FO, please don't hesitate to contact me (I will read my mails also during the Holydays ... at a decrease rate ....). BTW, Merry Christmas and Happy new year. Fabio |
