You would probably be best to ask on a Weblogic list, seeing as none of your the stack trace is to do with webwork. It looks like you haven't configured it properly in Weblogic? Look at your weblogic configuration files. You need to escape the code with quotes: onchange=3D"'sendCommand(this.forum, "load")'" Otherwise it tries to find it on the valuestack. Same reason that you=20 escaped "'Country'". I'm experiencing a problem with parameters in WW. I've created a POST form in a page with a select tag (userid) and a hidden field (job). In the destination action I've created two set method (setUserid, set Job) to get the parameters values. The Userid is String field, the job field and integer. When I call the getUserid method, I find that the value is changed to lower case. Is there a way to correct this behaviour ? Marco |

I'm trying to get the xslt samples to get working but without success. Velocity and jsp's are working well. The error I get is: javax.servlet.ServletException: Error instantiating servlet class webwork.view.xslt.XSLTServlet Underneath I have placed the whole stacktrace. I tried it on Tomcat-4.0.3 and tomcat-4.1.3 both without luck. This is what I have in my web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>xslt</servlet-name> <servlet-class>webwork.view.xslt.XSLTServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>xslt</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.xslt</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> The XSLTServlet is in its place and I can't see anything strange to it. Maybe anyone has some ideas on this. It's already inside the Scheduler servlet and I'm returning "product.success" which maps to 'adm_scheduler/scheduler.vm'. So maybe I didn't understand you correctly. As far as debugging the servlet goes ... I've got print statements just before the return, so I know it's getting there. Is there some way of seeing what the ServletDispatcher is returning or do I have to get into debugging webwork code? ----- Original Message ----- From: "matt baldree" <ma...@sm...> To: "G.L. Why aren't you returning 'velocity.Scheduler.product.success'? Did you debug the ServletDispatcher to see what the result and the view output is? ----- Original Message ----- From: "G.L. Because the view page in the mapping isn't showing up. No 404. If I source the page, it's as follows. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD> <BODY></BODY></HTML> So in the following mapping, my scheduler.vm isn't showing up. I've got a problem where an action is not returning the view in my views.properties file. When I browse my pages, all I'm getting back is a completely blank page (no errors whatsoever, just blank white). I'm using JBoss 3.0.1 w/ Jetty. --- snip (my Action) public class Scheduler extends ActionSupport implements ParameterAware { ... // all my parameters are collected correctly public String doExecute() throws Exception { ... // it reaches this point return "product.success"; } ... --- snip (views.properties) velocity.Scheduler.product.success=adm_scheduler/scheduler.vm I also have this package configured in webwork.properties. Any help much appreciated. |

WebWork has moved over to opensymphony and its new mailing list opensymphony-webwork. But, in short, yes you can use the iterator tag and use its status to see what index you are on. You can also use the generator to create an index. So, there are many ways to solve your problem. If you need a more complete response, then I suggest you post to the new list. I believe something like this was supported in Struts by using the attribute indexed=true for the data being iterated over. That way it was possible to get the row number... To Webwork-users. We have a form with a number of data. We save changed whenever the user changes the data in a form-field (onChange event) We need to make some calculations based on other values on the same row. = In order to handle this this want to append the row number on each field-nam= e. Example: Item Actual count Min. count Wanted count Ordercount 1 5 5 10 5 5 10 5 10 0 9 6 5 10 0 15 12 5 10 0 Each formfield is named based on their column name eg: itemId currCount minValue wantedValue orderCount There exist getxxx for each column. There exist and iterator to traverse through the list of items. Changing the field for item 9, min. count to 7 should change ordercount t= o 4. We need in the client javascript to be able to get each field and its val= ue. Furthermore we would like the user to be able to press key-down/up and ju= mp from field to field. (future option) So from my point of view we have two options. One is naming each formfield with the item-id. So the formfieldnames woul= d be itemId1 currCount1 minValue1 wantedValue1 orderCount1 itemId5 currCount5 minValue5 wantedValue5 orderCount5 itemId9 currCount9 minValue9 wantedValue9 orderCount9 itemId15 currCount15 minValue15 wantedValue15 orderCount15 Calling the onChange script should then send the itemId as an parameter. How could we name the field based on the itemId ? And how should this loo= k like for webwork ? The second option (and our prefered) - using a rowcounter eg: itemId1 currCount1 minValue1 wantedValue1 orderCount1 itemId2 currCount2 minValue2 wantedValue2 orderCount2 itemId3 currCount3 minValue3 wantedValue3 orderCount3 itemId4 currCount4 minValue4 wantedValue4 orderCount4 This will help us move up and down, and would be easier when we are not using a simple primary-key like itemId. How can we setup WebWork to handle a rowcounter in an iterator, and how c= an we append it to the name-field ?? And inputs would be really appreciated thank in advance - Ren=E9 Nygaard Net-Mill |

I commtted some changes yesterday that allow you to use ActionSupport actions outside of the webwork servlet container. Actually - I'm not sure about that. They allow you to use the actions outside of the request/response paradigm is probably more accurate. However you must create and destroy your own ActionContext each time you call an action, replacing the old context at the end, otherwise the previou= s actions will lose their context. This is problematic because it prevents long lived actions. I have no idea how to solve it at the moment because of the ThreadLocal :) The one workaround is to always create an execute your actions in one method. I've attached a little ActionDispatcher class which I've created to do this for JIRA (it's a bit of a hack at the moment - I'd love if this could be better thought out and integrated into WW). Usage is something like this: ActionResult aResult =3D ActionDispatcher.execute("com.foo.bar.MyAction", paramsMap); This will create your action, set any params from the map, and then put the results into aResult. Is anyone else using WW actions outside of the request/response paradigm? Cheers, Mike On 7/8/02 3:19 AM, "Patrick Lightbody" (pli...@ho...) penned the words: > So where does this stand? I downloaded Webwork 1.2 and deploy the webwork.war file to Jboss 3.0.1alpha and got "Page Cannot be display.." and Fatal error in file:/C:/orion/applications/webwork/tests/formtest.jsp at line 2: External entity not found: "file:/C:/orion/applications/webwork/tests/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd". What has changed from Version 1.1 to 1.2 besides moving it to opensymphony? I deployed the webwork.war that comes with 1.1 and everything worked fine. Am I missing something or the war have some missing files? Well, I think the first thing is to figure out what should be pulled out. I think we pretty much know what that is. Basically, anything that has "Http" or "Servlet" in it. Then the real trick is to figure out what should be put BACK in. Abstract support for getRemoteUser is a must. I suppose some abstract support for getParameter should also be there (ActionContext has getParameter already, which is confusing me). What about sessions? Anything else? -Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rickard" <ri...@dr...> To: "Patrick Lightbody" <pli...@ho...> Cc: "Mike Cannon-Brookes" <mi...@at...>; <web...@li...> Sent: Thursday, August 01, 2002 10:43 AM Subject: Re: [Webwork-user] problem with running ActionSupport based classes outside of webwork servlet container > Patrick Lightbody wrote: > > Well, for one, WebWork needs to completely remove itself from the "web". > > This is WW-12 and is critical towards this goal.
