distributed client/server!

With the beta 1.4 release, the rudimentary client/server application is now availble. This allows test cases to be distributed over clients on a network, which simulates load on web applications in a much more realistic fashion.

This application will require several improvements over the next several months, but the current version is definitely functional.

webtester is now in beta

As of the latest release on 10/4/2004, webtester has moved from alpha, to the beta stage of development. Although there are some additional features I want that are not in the application yet, the existing functionality appears to be stable.

If, in the past, you have used webtester in conjunction with Internet Explorer for recording test cases, please be sure to use the current release. Several IE related problems have been addressed with beta 1.0.

Alpha releases nearly complete

With the release of webtester_alpha28, the alpha releases are nearly finished. Within the next 2-3 months, beta releases should start becoming available.
Although statistics show that the application has been downloaded with some frequency, I have not recieved any user feedback. Therefore, I am somewhat guessing as to the features and problems which should be of greatest concern. I encourage any user feedback in the hopes it will direct application development in a more useful direction.
Also, a method has been devised for regression testing the application, so breaking existing features with new releases should be an uncommon event now.

updated tutorials

With the alpha2.7 release, several bugs are fixed. Of more immediate interest, however, is that webtester now has the ability to validate images!

Additionally, the tutorial which explains how to use webtester has been updated to be, I hope, more informative. To access the tutorial, please visit the project home page at http://webtester.sourceforge.net
