OK my fault - the template file was not saved as UTF-8. I still don't understand - How that caused the bug - Why it worked on other pages (with the same tag/text, also not UTF-8) - Why the browser displayed accents correctly on all other pages, dispite the fact that (some) of them weren't UTF-8 Anyway, it's fixed now, sorry for the false alarm.... 2008/7/9 Adrian Smith <adr...@gm...>: > I have the strange sitaution that if I do > > <% link display="« Zurück" %> > > Then the end-quote of this parameter is never found. I have the strange sitaution that if I do <% link display="« Zurück" %> Then the end-quote of this parameter is never found. An error is produced when the end-of-file is reached, that the end-quote character was never found. I have looked for about an hour now, and I can't find the problem. The Compiler.pm value function collects the characters and stops when the QUOTE_END character is reached. It builds up a @$value array of all the characters so far collected. I have printed out the characters out with [ " . join("|", @$value) . " ] and the result is the following: &|l|a|q|u|o|;| |Z|u|r|ückx" |%|>| | | | | | | | | | | |<|/|t|d|>| | | | | | | | | | | |<|t|d|>| | ...... As we can see in the above, the text ückx " is treated as one "character", which consumes the end-quote, meaning it is never found. But I don't understand why, CHARs are being matched, and a CHAR has the regex ".". As far as I can see, the template file is saved as UTF-8, the template's "slurp" function reads the file as UTF-8. And even if it didn't, this would not explain this behaviour? For the moment I will just use ü for the umlaut. |

To include e.g. "modules/breadcrumbs" in ones project one, can 1. Create the directory "modules" 2. svn add modules 3. svn propset svn:externals "breadcrumbs https://max.xaok.org/svn/webtek-modules/trunk/breadcrumbs" modules 4. svn commit 5. svn update Then e.g. the "breadcrumbs" module will always be checked out into the right place, each time one checks ones project out. I'm still not convinced about the necessity to organize different checkouts relative to one another (e.g. modules within the app; ./webtek assumes the app is within the webtek checkout), but given that this is the case, this feature provides a convenient solution. More info here: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.0/ch07s03.html Thanks to your colleage at bikemap who mentioned this feature in the first place! |

I think it was mentioned that $aModel->update() did number parsing (but I cannot find any email - so maybe I'm wrong). So if one does $aModel->anAttr($val) then $val should be in the internal representation (e.g. if a number then "1.23") but if one does $aModel->update({ 'col' => $val }) then $val should be in the external representation (e.g. if a number then "1,23"). But I have tried that, and it doesn't work. And I've looked in the source code and Model::_update just sets the fields from the hash directly. I think there would be a need for two methods: - $aModel->update_from_ui_vals($hash) - $aModel->update_from_internal_vals($hash) OK those are quite long names, but I do believe the name "update" is confusing, as it's not clear if internal or external values should be passed. But I think it's always imporant to know, and to state, whether one is dealing with internal or external representations, as they are so easy to get mixed up - and in the most cases, will work just fine, so the resulting bug is easy to miss when testing. (This just happened to me...) |
