I have added a new WYSIWYG editor widget to Syntax. This uses a DHTML
based editor called Easy Web Editor (EWE) .
This is licensed under the LGPL and so is compatible with Syntax
licensing. This widget loads quicker than eKit (the Java applet HTML
editor currently implemented as the html_wysiwyg plugin) and it also
support cut-and-paste from Microsoft Office documents such as Word and
Excel. However, it will only work on Windows with IE 5.5.
The new plugin 'easy_editor' provides a standard HTML text area with a
link 'Edit with HTML Editor' that appears above the text area. This
will only show if the browser is Windows/IE 5.5.
Since this widget solution uses a popup window and field updates are
Mozilla-based rich HTML editor popup that will be called if the user
has Mozilla capabilities.
Added new class: pxdb_browser.class.php
This class provides a simple interface to browser and platform
information. It can be imported into modules by using the pxdb_import()
$browser = new BrowserInfo();
if ($browser->isWindows() && $browser->isMac() &&
$browser->getVersion() >= 5.0)
// Do stuff specific to Mac IE 5.0 browsers
Eventually other browser information (such as Browser capabilities,
files accepted, languages etc.) will be added to this class.
