My only experience of hosted git is on github. I have not looked at sourceforge, my guess is they are trying to keep up. It would be churlish after 12 years to desert sourceforge, if they have a credible offering. I know it can be done but I could not figure out how to make a project github repository - rather than a personal one, so when I moved melati I moved it to my personal hub.
