Each detail screen should include a bread crumb that would allow the user to jump back to previous levels. For example, I have a project called "Install 4.2" with a task called "Media Prep" and a subtask called "Download ISO". While looking at the lowest level item there should be a bread crumb like this:
Home -> Install 4.2 -> Media Prep -> Download ISO
All but the last item should be a link back to that page/level of the project. This would make navigation through a project so very much easier.

I should clarify this. I realize the navigation panel on the left provides backwards navigation up to the parent task. However, what I was fixated on when I posted this request is that when EDITING an item, there is no navigation back to the item itself. Either the nav panel should allow reselection of the current item, or there should be a "Cancel Edit" button on the edit form -- or both.
