Lets assume you are using your favourite tool WinMerge (https://winmerge.org/) and want to check for updates. Then (as of 2022-05, keep in mind the page might have changed in since then!) do the following:

• Please don't add the binary installer (e.g. https://github.com/WinMerge/winmerge/releases/download/v2.16.20/WinMerge-2.16.20-x64-Setup.exe) to check.
• Instead, watch out for a history / changelog of the software which is present usually (for WinMerge: https://winmerge.org/docs/changelog.php)
• Enter this as your address: https://winmerge.org/docs/changelog.php
• (Optionally) enter this as your alternative address to open the download section: https://winmerge.org/downloads/
• (Optionally) get rid of content on the page that may be noise, so use as a start tag: <main id="content">
• (Optionally) use as a stop tag: </main>
