Hi, I am trying to actually get an alert when an update detectes a difference in a web page. I've dug down to the tags I am monitoring which highlights a small secion of the HTML, but I will either get sound alerts on every Update, or on none. Seems confusing, and I'm a software engineer myself.
Overall the software just keeps specifying when it "updates" a page, not very useful. Need to know when a change is detected via email or at minimum sound or log file.

I'm afraid I don't get entirely what you want to achive. If you want to be notified on a change (which is an update), please configure this in the item settings accordingly, not the global ones.
The logic is that a report (i.e. hint window, sound, start of a tool ...) whenever the state of a single item is "updated" (i-.e. the icon is yellow). Reporting works actually just fine for me and others, so maybe its just a misconfiguration we can easily solve? Can you tell me the steps to reproduce or send me the settings file where it does not work to inspect whats going on?
Also, please use the feature tracker and not the forum for reports like this. this will make it easier for me to manage. I am not being notified on replies in the forums.

I use the balloon notification because it persists until dismissed and in my windows notifications which is what works for me
