#168 OV538 settings not being properly read

running OS X 10.5.8 and macam 0.9.2(+3)
(the latest CVS build)
Saving camera settings does properly edit the settings file, but occasionally the camera seems to give images that do not reflect the saved settings. This can be temporarily fixed by checking and unchecking the autogain box, but it quickly reverts back to its erroneous state, often after restarting macam.
