I'll have to look into whether this has a closed source firmware but I can't figure out why this is not already in Ubuntu. It's going to take me a bit to package it myself if you could find a deb or a repo that distributes it that would make implementing this quick otherwise it will shift to low priority but it will eventually get get done.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
A few weeks ago , I discover WEBBHTPC and found it promising.
I install it on my Acer Aspire One with a CrystalHD card. I had to install the driver for this card to use it.
I would like to know if it is possible to include it in the iso ?
see here : http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO_install_a_Miminal_Ubuntu_and_XBMC_with_sound_over_HDMI_on_the_AppleTV#Install_crystal_HD_driver_and_library
It would be really useful as a lot of people are using it on netbook, appleTV …
Thank you

It is included in the XBMC distro, I don't know how it is done but you can have a look there
Took a look as it's in the XBMC ppa which is already installed so you can just search for it in synaptic and install it no compiling required.
