I am just a Element OS user and I am glad I looked to the old element OS homepage today. Theoriginal project is going down and I found you. Because EOS was the best HTPC distro I knew. I am happy that you continue the idea and the work.
So far my setup runs smooth, so there is no need to install a new system, but I have another partition with an older ubuntu, that will be replaced tith webbhtpc to test it. I think I will start as soon as a beta is out.
My HTPC is used for movie files, music, photo watching, video skype, quick web surfing (news, recipes, mail, weather etc.), looking and recording Live TV, gambling SNES-games and some java applications (namely OpenStreetMap, OSMosis and GpsMid) because it has the most RAM of my machines. The video skype setup was the most difficult and runs not every time we start it - so if this will run smoothly I will switch sooner!
Happy coding

Well Webb HTPC is based on ubuntu 10.10. It will have an updated kernel and new drivers. I can't say if this improved your skype situation but if you do some googling you should be able to find out. Sorry I don't have a web cam to test for you.

I have a webcam that I can use to test out this functionality in the next day or so. Currently in the process of moving so I need to locate it first. I will let you know what my results are.
