Failed to open /var/log/usermin/upload.123540176832118 for writing : Bad file descriptor

Ok, changed /var/mail to "drwxrwxrwt 2 root mail 512 Feb 23 07:18 mail" which now works for "delete email", but now have error for sending email of: "Failed to open /var/log/usermin/upload.123540176832118 for writing : Bad file descriptor"...

What must I change to make sending an email work?

(Something has changed with FreeBSD_7.1-RELEASE. Would REALLY REALLY like to know what is going on.)

(refer to previous whine: [ 2608940 ] Open of /var/mail/hackware.del failed : Permission denied)

thanx much... william...

Does the /var/log/usermin directory exist? It sounds like it has gone missing ..

Actually, that directory shouldn't even be used at all - the default is /var/usermin. How did you install Usermin exactly? From the tar.gz file on www.webmin.com, or some other source?

sorry for LONG delay... real_earth intrudes sumtimes...

Still having problems with FreeBSD-7.1-RELEASE and latest release of usermin...

[ hard to believe i'm the only whiner... FreeBSD-7.1-RELEASE seems to be a real good vintage... ] ( i CAN'T be the only 7.1 with the problem (or i NEED drugs) :-)

I've used yer software for many years (1995?), and have never had such a prob...

reading email works, as well as delete (since i've done the sticky bit thing)...

    but, send/draft does NOT...

    /var/log is: " drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 2048 May 10 00:00 log"

    /var/log/usermin is: " drwxr-xr-t 2 root bin 512 May 10 20:41 usermin"
    (notice "t" sticky bit...)

Original install was via www.freebsd.org "ports"...

If (seldom) "they" have a config problem, how can i be the only whiner...?

[ I WILL JUMP THRU ANY AND ALL HOOPS REQUIRED, JUS WANNA KNO WHERE 2 JUMP ]...

    thanx bunches...

Just so we are on the same page, can you un-install Usermin and then re-install using the tar.gz package from http://www.webmin.com/udownload.html ? That way I know it isn't a packaging issue..
