My usermin is configured to start in the user's home
directory but they are allowed to go to other
directories. I put a symlink in the home directory to
go to their website directory. Unfortunately, File
Manasger does not follow the symlink, giving an error
messasge that the "directory" does not exist! This
makes the File Manager useless unless i allow the users
to wander all over my machine. I want users to only be
allowed to use their own directories but the
configuration seems to only allow whole trees under / .

So, i would like File Manager to follow symlinks and
limit user's ability to see only user owned directories.

Thank you.

That is a good idea. The next version of Usermin will add an
option to have it automatically follow symlinks ..

Did this issue ever get solved?

In webmin 1.702 (and all versions I've ever used before), symlinks do not get followed:

NEITHER by double clicking on them in the file manager
NOR by putting the full path and link in the address bar of the file manager

That's by design - it allows the file manager to manipulate the link itself, rather than the target.
