I have Webmin running on a Virtual machine with Ubuntu 9.10 server that I
connect either to the network where my PC with Firefox 3.6 is connected to
or to a network behind a Netgear router (of course changing IP addresses and
routes). In the local network everything works perfectly if the Ubuntu is
behind the router some pages only load partially or not at all e.g. the
"users and groups" page or the "routing and gateway" page. Firefox (and IE)
are loading some parts of the page or show an empty page or even return an
error "ssl_error_bad_mac_read" (Firefox). Refreshing sometimes helps - the
"users and groups" page however never shows more than two users out of the
about 20 that exist. Routing is correct - about 70% of the Webmin pages are
shown correctly. Ubuntu has a route to my PC, the PC uses the default route
to the router. The PC runs XP Pro SP3.
I took some traces and there seems to be no packet loss in either direction.
The packets that the Webmin server sends out arrive at the PC. I turned the
firewall on my PC off - without success.
Unfortunately I did not find any useful information how to fix this.
I re-installed Ubuntu again from scratch and have only Webmin and SSH
installed (SSH works in both networks).
Thanks for any ideas.
