ok, thanks, but now I'm a bit confused, I have prepared an ubuntu 12.04 LTS
machine with the latest version of virtualmin (currently running). is this
not the way to go?

[webmin-l] virtualmin - move all domains to new server

hi,

I need to move all domains from one server to another.

is there a recommended parameter set for backup-domain.pl/restore-domain.pl?

the new server will have another IP (almost all domains share one IP).

Assuming you want to bring across all global Virtualmin settings as well (like
plans and templates), the commands to use :

virtualmin backup-domains --all-domains --all-virtualmin --all-features --newformat --dest ssh://user:pass@...:/backup --onebyone

and then on the new machine, restore with :

virtualmin restore-domains --all-domains --all-features --all-virtualmin --source /backup

I just see, that you use the format:

virtualmin backup-domains

is this synonym with directly calling

backup-domains.pl

as the command you use gives me:

# virtualmin backup-domains
Command backup-domains.pl was not found
