I have just recently installed fail2ban to help with all the recent sql injection attacks I have encountered. The problem is that fail2ban adds the rules to the ipf.conf file but when I use webmin later on to manually edit the filter rules, webmin erases all the entries that fail2ban adds. fail2ban adds them to the end of the configuration file by performing a command line of " # echo "block in on dmfe1 proto tcp from x.x.x.x/32 to any" | ipf -f - " .The problems is if you use webmins ipfilter to view or add or edit the rules , it doesnt display the rules added by fail2ban and when I look into the ipf.conf file the entries that fail2ban added to the end are all deleted . Is there any way to fix this so the 2 can cohabitate together and still be able to use Webmins ipfilter ? Sytems is Solaris 10 that it is installed on. Thanks. Jay Davis |
