Hi Jamie, Yes SSH v1 was the reason, but I still had a few hick-ups. I install "Text Login" module and it works. Since I use webmin for all my maintenance task, I dont nead SSH that much. The "Text Login" module will come in handy for the very few time I nead a console login. I like the "Open in a separate windows" and the fact that it uses the same port as webmin Thanks again for your help Greatings Sart ----- Original Message ---- From: Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...> To: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Sent: Thu, September 2, 2010 12:05:56 AM Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Others - SSH login One thing to check is if your SSH server supports SSH protocol version 1. Unfortunately the SSH applet in that module only supports version 1, as there is no SSH 2 capable java applet freely available. If you can't enable SSH v1, another alternative is the "Text Login" module - see http://www.webmin.com/cgi-bin/search_third.cgi?search=ajaxterm - Jamie On 01/Sep/2010 20:25 Sart Cole <sar...@ya...> wrote .. > Hi Jamie, > > Let's say that my office firewall IP is 100.100.100.100 > > To help you analyse what's going on > > 1 - I'm at home and I use putty to connect to 100.100.100.100 port 500 (not 22) > at my office. > It works... no problem > > 2 - Knowing that my ssh server is OK, I log out from putty > > 3 - I loging to webmin https port 443 (not 10000) to the same server > it works.... no problem > > 4 - I clic on SSH Login I get "Connected to 100.100.100.100 500" and "online" >at > the bottom line > > 5 - I get have another windows "SSH authorization required" > > 6 - I type the same user name and password that I use with putty > > 7 - I get "Not connected" and offline at the bottom line > > Locking in my server auth.log i have > > Sep 1 23:16:07 fw29 sshd[7876]: Did not receive identification string from > 100.100.100.100 > I can use putty with no problem but would like to take a look at using webmin > SSH Login > > > Thanks for your help > > Sart > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...> > To: Webmin users list <web...@li...> > Sent: Wed, September 1, 2010 9:29:45 PM > Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Others - SSH login > > It should just run a Java SSH client in your browser which can be used to login > as normal.
